"Exall Lake"

9 x 12
oil on gessoed hardboard

Today was tailored made for plein air painting, which was fortunate because it was my first attempt. Perfect Spring temperature and very little wind...I think that's what makes for a good plein air day...that, and fun and creative artists to share the day with! Joined about 7-8 local painters who get together once a month at different locations around Dallas. Today they chose Exall lake, part of Turtle Creek in Highland Park, and also a popular picnic and walking area for locals since the late 1800's. Spring is definitely bursting out, starting with this flowering Bradford Pear tree. Will look forward to another outing with this talented group!

  1. Ann, I had a great time painting with you today. As you already know, I love your very first outdoor painting and I hope we all get to see the 2nd painting you painted, as well. Thank you for driving me to get that much needed cup of coffee; it woke me up and kept me warm for a bit. Take care, Angela

  2. Gosh, Ann...Where have I seen this scene before? LOL Both your painting and Angela's are beautiful with very different techniques. I am starting to really recognize paintings as an 'Ann Rogers.' That is so cool!

  3. I always love seeing different artist's interpretation of the same scene. I'm amazed that this is you first attempt at plein air...don't you know it's supposed to be hard?
    You are a natural...great piece!

  4. Wow! Hard to imagine this as your 1st attempt at plein air! It's beautiful. Very expressive.

  5. It's very interesting to look your painting Ann. I looked Angela's painting too. I like to look different interpretations.
