"Antique Book"

8 x 10
oil on stretched canvas

Enjoyed incorporating this old Shakespearean book, dated 1858, into this painting. It's a beautiful book with a gold embossed cover and spine, but is so fragile that just by opening it causes pages to loosen, so it's not handled very often.

  1. I just love the book, Ann! I can almost smell the musty oldness of it and feel that crackled leather in my own hands. I also like the addition of the vase. Old library feel and one that I adore. I wanted to tell you I saw some mini Toby mugs at an antique store yesterday. (I'd not heard of them before your blog, quite honestly.) They were probably about the size of the tip of my thumb and they were for sale for $52.00 each! I'd not have known what they were if not for you!
